Automotive Applications

Black oxide coatings become part of the surface of the metal with essentially no dimensional change – only 5 millionths of an inch. The coatings are flexible and can be formed after coating and can withstand 350 degree heat without a problem. The porous oxide film has the ability to absorb the final sealant. The anti-galling surface achieved through blackening allows the outer lubricating layer to be sacrificed during contact and abrasion; therefore, it is excellent for break-in.
